Gabrielle Zevin

Author and screenwriter Gabrielle Zevin (The Storied Life of A.J. Firky) has a lot on her plate. Her novel Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow was just picked up for adaptation by Paramount (for a cool $2 million), and she’ll be writing the script. But if the title doesn’t sound familiar, that’s because the book isn’t anywhere near shelves: according to Deadline, it was just last week that Knopf just bought the rights to publish it in North America.

Zevin is a prolific author and an experienced screenwriter; she wrote the 2005 Helena Bonham Carter film Conversations With Other Women, among other scripts. The Storied Life of A.J. Firkyher novel about a bookstore owner, was a New York Times bestseller and has been translated into thirty-eight languages.

Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow is “a modern love story about two friends who meet as children and reunite as adults to create video games, finding an intimacy in digital storytelling that eludes them in their real lives,” according to the Deadline report, which also says it’s “a novel that does for video games what The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Klay did for comic books.” More than 25 offers were made on the film/TV rights.

The novel is expected to publish early next year; it’s anyone’s guess when the film will arrive.
